- Creation a stable irrigation water source for 86,862 hectares of farmland, including 54,043 hectares in the Southern Chu River area, 32,831 hectares in the Northern Chu River and Southern Ma River
- Water supply for industry and domestic use with a discharge of 7,715 m3/s.
- Combined power generation with an install capacity of 97 MW, adding an average annual supply to the national grid of about 430 x 106 kWh.
- Water supplement in the dry season for the lowland of Ma River with the discharge of 30.42 m3/s for saltwater push and improving the ecological environment in the lowland area.
- Reduction of flood at frequency of P = 0.6%, ensuring water levels at Xuan Khanh not exceed +13.71 m
